FAA test code FAQ
What are the PLT codes on my FAA written test report?
PLT codes (Learning Statement Codes, e.g. PLT123) identify the knowledge areas of the questions
you missed. Older FAA Airman Knowledge Test Reports list PLT codes; we match each to its official description
from the FAA Learning Statement Reference Guide.
What do ACS codes like PA.I.B.K1 mean?
Newer reports use ACS codes. PA.I.B.K1 breaks down as certificate (PA = Private Pilot Airplane),
Area of Operation (I), Task (B), and element (K1 = Knowledge item 1). We decode each code into its full
official Airman Certification Standards knowledge area.
How do I find which questions I missed?
The FAA report doesn't show the questions — only codes for the knowledge areas you missed. Upload your report and we extract those codes and match them to their official descriptions, so you know exactly what to review.
Is it free and private?
Yes — completely free, and your report never leaves your device. All processing happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to any server.
Which FAA exams are supported?
All of them: Private, Instrument, Commercial, and ATP for Airplane, Helicopter, and Powered-Lift; all Flight Instructor (CFI) and Fundamentals of Instructing tests; Remote Pilot (Part 107); Aviation Mechanic (General/Airframe/Powerplant); Sport Pilot; and Military Competence. Older PLT-code reports are fully supported too.
Codes are matched from the FAA Learning Statement Reference Guide and the FAA Airman Certification Standards, kept current automatically. A single code can cover more than one missed question and represents a topic area rather than the exact question. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA.
